The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga picked up a commitment Sunday from Zach Gibson, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback from Alpharetta, Georgia.

Gibson chose the Mocs over offers from Murray State - like UTC, the Racers compete in the Football Championship Subdivision - and Football Bowl Subdivision program Georgia State. According to 247Sports.com, Gibson is a three-star prospect who is rated as the sixth-best pro-style quarterback in Georgia and 69th in the country at the position for the signing class of 2019.

The 2018 season will be his fourth as a starter for Johns Creek High School. He passed for 1,899 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, but he was injured against North Atlanta and didn't play in the season finale against Dunwoody the following week.

Gibson is the Mocs' fifth commitment and fourth on offense for their 2019 signing class. Receiver Giovanni Dyer, who will catch passes his senior season from Gibson at Johns Creek, committed recently, as did Newton (Covington, Georgia) receiver Michael Mathison, Grissom (Huntsville, Alabama) receiver Mel Dantzler Jr., and Thomasville (Georgia) defensive back Karey Lee.
