The Tennessee Volunteers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets led the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic golf tournament Saturday at 20-under-par 556 after the second of three days at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Georgia, and Alabama was two strokes behind. Auburn was a distant fourth at 577, one shot better than South Carolina and Virginia. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga was 12th at 589, just five behind seventh-place Clemson, and Dalton State College was tied with Colorado State for 14th at 600. The Vols' Jake Meenhorst and the Jackets' Tyler Strafaci were tied for first individually at 135 after a 66 and a 65, respectively, on Saturday. Will Porter led UTC with a 70 and was tied with South Carolina's Scott Stevens from Chattanooga (71) for 18th at 144, and UTC's Lake Johnson, Oliver Simonsen and A.J. Lintunen were at 147, 149 and 149. Dalton State's Ben Rebne was tied for 23rd at 145 with Sport Allmond, Jack Clark and Matthew Cleary (71) at 151, 152 and 152.
Volleyball
* UTC lost 3-0 to Notre Dame (6-2) in the Western Kentucky tournament Saturday, by the set scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-22. Jaquelyn Langhaim had 14 assists and matched Miranda Elpers with six kills for the Mocs (4-6), who got nine and eight digs from Megan Kaufman and Brenna Everingham.
* Lee University ended its stay at the Argo Bash in Pensacola, Florida, with a 3-0 loss (25-21, 25-19, 25-11) Saturday to 11th-ranked host West Florida. Silvia Sartori had 10 kills and 13 digs, Allie Koepfer also had 10 kills and Hanna Matthews had 23 assists for Lee (2-8). MaKayla Beebe added 10 digs.
* Sewanee is 8-1 this season after completing a 4-0 run through the Roanoke Maroon Classic with a 3-1 win (25-15, 25-27, 25-21, 25-21) over the hosts and a 3-0 defeat (25-13, 25-8, 25-19) of Ferrum on Saturday. Destiny Stewart had 16 kills and Sydney White and Lilly Reilly added 13 apiece with 13 and 12 digs against Roanoke, while Constance Connolly contributed 44 assists, 13 digs and four aces and Ellie Pedersen had 11 digs with seven kills. Connolly had 30 assists and six aces in the finale, when Stewart and White each had eight kills, Reilly had seven and Stewart served four aces and matched Olivia Nichols with 13 digs.
* Covenant College lost 3-0 to both Rhodes (25-21, 25-13, 25-20) and Lynchburg (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) in the Maryville Invitational and is 0-6. Sophie Puertas had 22 assists and 10 digs, Hannah Harris had eight kills and Riley Howe served four aces against Rhodes. Puertas had 30 assists and 16 digs against Lynchburg, when Harris again had eight kills, Howe and Allie Jakes added seven apiece and Emily Moore, Hannah Stewart and Josita Marshall had 14, 11 and 10 digs.
* Bryan College lost 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) to visiting Bluefield in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. For Bryan (3-7, 0-2), Anna Owens and Mariah Dunlop each had six kills, Sidney Pierce 12 assists, Rheagan Kean 12 digs and Rebecca Camacho three aces.
* Chattanooga State's first-year team won 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 20-25, 25-13) on Friday against the Bryan junior varsity. Sidney Killingsworth had 16 kills and Kayla Wimpee added 13 for the Lady Tigers (3-5), while Emily Redden and Dakota Rawiszer had 23 and 21 assists, Scarlett Hemphill seven aces with eight digs, Ricki Lynn Bickley 10 digs and Sakari Pack six kills with four blocks.
Soccer
* Lee University defeated the Bellarmine men 3-0 but lost 3-2 in overtime to the Carson-Newman women in a doubleheader Saturday in Cleveland, Tennessee. Owen Keck scored in the first half and Aidan Moore scored twice early in the second for the Flames (2-1-1), and Palle Jesperson assisted on all three goals, joined by Drew Jackson on the second. Kennedy Rankin's second goal for Carson-Newman (2-2) was the winner at 92:33. Mia Hollingsworth had a goal and an assist for Riley Engels' score for the Lady Flames (2-1-1), who were outshot 17-7.
* Sewanee won 1-0 at Maryville in men's soccer but lost 3-0 at Hanover in women's soccer Saturday. Goalkeeper Hannah Judycki had a scoreless first half and made eight saves in defeat for the female Tigers (0-2-1), who were outshot 19-3. James Murray also had eight saves for the Sewanee men (2-2), who were outshot 15-7 but won on Kyle Johnston's goal from an Evan Poole assist at 63:29.
* The Covenant men lost 1-0 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in Atlanta in a neutral-site matchup of 3-0 teams. The goal came in the 41st minute, and Paul Lemay made five saves with the Scots outshot 18-6.
* Dalton State's men got goals from Daniel Valenciano and Jose Villalobos but lost 3-2 to Johnson & Wales at Faulkner's tournament. Dalton State is 3-3-1.
* Bryan lost 2-1 to the Reinhardt women and 3-0 to the Reinhardt men in their AAC-opening doubleheader Saturday in Waleska, Georgia. Jessica Chaveiro provided a six-second lead in the 18th minute for the Lady Lions (1-5), who were outshot 22-10 but got 10 saves from Caragan Treola. The Bryan men are 1-3 overall.
* Tennessee Wesleyan swept visiting Milligan in another AAC doubleheader, 2-1 in two overtimes in the women's game and 6-0 in the men's. Julia Ruiz Vargas netted the tying goal at 88:55 from a Chandler Holmes assist and also scored the winner at 103:18 for the Lady Bulldogs (1-3). For the TWU men (5-1), Harry Baggaley scored twice and Yuri Parisotto, Izaack Lambert, Gabriel Andrade and Antonio Panchana also had goals, while Kyle Wynne, Gabriel Gonzalez, Ben Timms and Tom Lake had assists. The Bulldogs had margins of 22-6 in shots, 13-3 in on-goal attempts and 9-3 in corner kicks against Milligan (3-1).
