Former NDHS quarterback Alex Darras leads Sewanee to home win

Former Notre Dame High School star Alex Darras threw three touchdown passes as the Sewanee Tigers rose to 2-1 and won their Southern Athletic Association opener Saturday, 28-20 over visiting Austin College.

Darras was 17-of-24 for 212 passing yards and scoring throws of 10 yards to Allan Puri, 26 to Micah Maes and 34 to Drew Maddox. Sewanee closed out its scoring in the final minute of the third quarter with a 2-yard run by Sam Everette and Michael Jacobs' fourth extra-point kick of the game.

Malik Santiago and Zach Milan led the Tigers in rushing with 90 and 81 yards on 16 and 18 carries. Darras gained 35 yards on nine runs. William Phillips picked off two passes.

The Kangaroos (0-3) scored first, midway through the second quarter, on a 19-yard pass to Adonis Martin from Colt Collins, who wound up 15-of-34 for 299 yards with three interceptions. Martin caught eight passes for 195 yards, and Reggie Evans ran 12 times for 113 yards and a touchdown.
