Area sports notes: Basketball Mocs finish 3-0 in Bahamas

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team wound up 3-0 in its games in the Bahamas with a 92-60 win Thursday over IBA Elite. Thirteen Mocs played double-figure minutes in the game, led by Matt Ryan and Trey Doomes with 19:50 and 19:40. Ryan and Jonathan Scott scored 14 points each for UTC and Rod Johnson added 10 and was one of three Mocs with seven rebounds each.

Swimming

» Recent McCallie School graduate Jake Marcum finished fourth in the 200-meter backstroke Wednesday at the USA Swimming Junior Nationals at Stanford University, and in the morning preliminaries he set a McCallie/GPS Aquatics club record of 2:00.78 that qualified him for the 2020 U.S. team Olympic trials - by two seconds. Marcum, a high school All-American about to begin his collegiate career at Indiana, swam a 2:02.36 in the 200 back final.

Golf

» Randy Bowman of Summerville tied for 10th at 7-over-par 149 in the 2019 Georgia Super Seniors Championship golf tournament Wednesday and Thursday at Braselton's Chateau Elan course. Don Russell of Tequesta edged Don Marsh of Johns Creek in a playoff for the title after each finished 36 holes at 142.
