Georgia freshman defensive lineman Bill Norton was arrested early Sunday morning by university police and charged with three misdemeanors: failure to maintain lane/improper driving, driving under the influence and underage possession of alcohol.

Norton was booked at 4:25 a.m., according to the Athens-Clarke County Jail Booking Report website, and released a little more than an hour later at 5:44. Each of his charges carried a bond of $1,000.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pounder was a four-star member of the 2019 signing class out of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis. He was rated the No. 9 strongside defensive end nationally by 247Sports.com, which also ranked him as the No. 4 recruit overall in Tennessee behind Memphis cornerback Maurice Hampton (LSU), Murfreesboro defensive end Joseph Anderson (South Carolina) and Nashville receiver Lance Wilhoite (Oregon).

Georgia did not practice Sunday and will begin game-week preparations Monday for Saturday night's season opener at Vanderbilt. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart has a news conference scheduled for noon Monday.
