Area sports notes: Lookouts rained out, set for doubleheader

For the second time in three days the Chattanooga Lookouts will play a doubleheader against the Montgomery Biscuits at AT&T Field. Monday's game was postponed due to rain and will be picked up Tuesday with the first of two seven-inning games, starting at 5:15. The Biscuits, who won the Southern League North division in the first half, are close to finishing at the top again in the second half with a four-game lead with 12 regular-season games left. The Lookouts won both games Sunday in a series that has included 53 runs in three games.

Volleyball

» Cleveland State dropped to 0-2 for the volleyball season with a 3-0 loss Monday at Gadsden State. The set scores were 25-10, 25-15, 25-23. Stephanie Burke led the offense and Aly Grace Lemons the serving for the visiting Lady Cougars, who play tonight at Snead State.

Golf

» Dalton State was ranked fourth in the NAIA women's golf coaches' preseason poll for 2019-20, following defending champion British Columbia at No. 1, Keiser from Florida and SCAD Savannah. Oklahoma City was fifth, Cumberlands (Kentucky) sixth and Dalton State league rivals Loyola (Louisiana) and William Carey seventh and eighth. After being picked eighth in the Bushnell Golfweek poll, the Dalton State men were 12th in the NAIA coaches' Top 25.

Soccer

» Two Premier Soccer Academy teams based in Red Bank won all their games on the way to age-group championships this past weekend in the Liberty Cup boys' tournament in Birmingham. PSA Lanus won the under-15 division with mostly 13-year-olds and scores of 7-1, 3-2 and 3-0. The PSA Boca Juniors won in under-12 with players as young as 9, by scores of 4-2, 4-0 and 7-1. Pedro Kozak is the head coach of both teams, assisted by Ross Shumate, Tommy Blevins, Allen Bible and Maho Karajic.

Pickleball

» Katie Dyer of Ooltewah finished seventh in the women's doubles open pro division and ninth in mixed doubles open pro this past weekend at the Tournament of Champions Pickleball Tournament in Brigham City, Utah.
