Linebacker Jeremiah Telander becomes Tennessee's 12th commitment

Tennessee picked up the 12th football commitment for its 2023 signing class Sunday afternoon and the second in as many days.

Jeremiah Telander, a 6-foot-2, 217-pound linebacker from Gainesville, Georgia, visited Knoxville this weekend and provided Josh Heupel's Volunteers a nonbinding pledge. He made the decision public on Twitter by stating: "All glory to God for all my opportunities. Thank you to my family and all the coaches who have helped me through this process. I am committed to the University of Tennessee."

Telander is rated the No. 74 linebacker nationally on the 247Sports.com composite rankings and the No. 921 prospect overall. He selected the Vols over dozens of scholarship offers, including Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Missouri and Vanderbilt from within the Southeastern Conference, and Nebraska, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia from outside the league.

"They're a rising program," the three-star recruit said of the Vols during a recent interview with 247Sports. "They're waiting to have a championship season, and that place will blow up when they do. Coach Heupel wants to take Tennessee to the next level and how it used to be.

"I think it's a great coaching staff and a great vibe to do it over there, so that's big for me."

On Saturday, the Vols received a commitment from John Slaughter, a three-star safety from Southaven, Mississippi.
