The Baylor girls' golf team earned its first win of the season Tuesday in the Matt Cunningham Preview at Black Creek Club.

Stephanie Xian and Kyndall Shamblin led the Lady Red Raiders as they turned a tied affair with Farragut into a two-stroke victory as part of a stout field on a tough course. Baylor finished at 336 strokes in the two-day, 36-hole event in which each team counted its two lowest scores each day.

Xian posted an 82 both days and was the medalist by a stroke over Christian Academy of Knoxville's Kate Faulkner, who closed with a 79 to finish at 165. Farragut's Vivian Wang was two strokes further back in third.

Shamblin had rounds of 89 and 83, and Mattie Nall shot 89-86 for Baylor.

Ensworth (344) was the third-place team, followed by GPS (369), CAK (371) and Signal Mountain (374).

The tournament was played in memory of Matt Cunningham, a 2006 Baylor graduate who played on four state championship teams.
