Upperman pulls away from Chattanooga Christian

Chattanooga Christian received a scoring burst early from Jackson Hilger, but the Chargers could not find an answer to stop Upperman's Alex Rush after the break in Tuesday's 55-36 loss at the Border Battle hosted by South Pittsburg High School.

Rush helped the Bees (8-3) turn a five-point halftime lead to 17 as the 6-foot-8 big man scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the third quarter. The talented senior forward is committed to play for Freed-Hardeman University.

CCS (3-3) looked poised to contend early as Hilger scored seven of his 12 points in the first quarter, which ended with the score knotted up at 12-all.

However, offensive woes plagued the Chargers who were held to just seven and five points over the second and third quarters.

Boo Carter supplied a team-high 16 points in the loss, scoring eight points in each half. The freshman point guard scored 37 points and hit eight 3-pointers over the two-day holiday tournament.
