Former LaFayette High School standout Keri O'Neal has been named the girls' basketball coach at Murray County High School, according to athletic director Greg Linder.

O'Neal replaces Hannah Harris, who was hired as the Dalton High School girls' basketball coach last month.

O'Neal is a 2013 graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee, where she received her bachelor's degree in biology, and a 2017 graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky, where she earned a master's degree in counseling. A 2009 graduate of LaFayette, she averaged 15.6 points per game and 18.9 rebounds a game her senior season and ended her prep career with 1,378 points and more than 1,200 rebounds.

After playing her freshman and sophomore seasons at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama, she transferred to Martin Methodist, where she was named to the All-TranSouth Conference first team as a senior in 2012-13, when she averaged 9.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She set a school record at the time for blocked shots with 77 and was second in career double-doubles with 16.

O'Neal began her coaching career as an assistant at Snead State, where she assisted in recruiting and leading fundamental camps. She was later hired as a graduate assistant at Morehead State and for the past two years worked with the Belhaven University women's team in Jackson, Mississippi.
