Chattanooga Lookouts beat Birmingham Barons 9-0

Nick Gordon went 5-for-6 with two runs batted in and three runs scored as the Chattanooga Lookouts won 9-0 in Birmingham against the Barons in Southern League baseball Monday night.

North Division leader Chattanooga (77-43, 35-15 this half) had a lead before the game was two outs old, as Gordon doubled and LaMonte Wade singled him home, and made it 7-0 with a six-run fourth inning featuring triples by Gordon and Edgar Corcino and a home run by Jonathan Rodriguez mixed with four singles and a walk.

Gordon, Corcino, Wade and Andy Wilkins singled in a two-run fifth, and the Lookouts wound up with 19 hits while the Barons totaled only four against five pitchers. D.J. Baxendale and Yohan Pino each allowed two in three innings.

The Lookouts are off today and will open a five-game road series Wednesday night against the Tennessee Smokies. Kohl Stewart (5-6, 4.01 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Chattanooga.
