Mother Nature stole a chance for the Chattanooga Lookouts to climb the Southern League standings Thursday night at AT&T Field.

They were tied 1-1 with the Mobile BayBears midway through the fourth inning thanks in part to Chattanooga's TJ Friedl stealing his way around the bases before rain arrived and play was halted. After waiting on the weather for an hour and 10 minutes, the game was canceled.

While it won't be made up, fans may exchange their tickets for any remaining Lookouts home game this season.

The Lookouts (32-26) entered Thursday night three games back of Montgomery for first place in the North Division standings. Chattanooga has 11 games remaining, all on the road, before the Southern League All-Star Game as it tries to earn a playoff spot with a first-half division title.

Friedl gave the Lookouts a 1-0 lead in the first inning by stealing second and third before scoring on a wild pitch.

Chattanooga, which won three of four against Mobile, starts a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokies at 7 p.m. Friday in Kodak.

The Lookouts' scheduled starting pitcher is Scott Moss (3-2, 3.66), who has struck out 66 batters in 51 2/3 innings this season. His opponents' batting average of .188 is tied for second-lowest in the league.
