Elaine Luby

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Elaine Woody Stancell Luby died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, in Indianapolis.Born in Bradley County, Tenn., in 1945 and she was raised in Oak Ridge, Tenn.Her husband of 23 years, Jim Luby; her daughter, Dawna Renea Harding; her father, J. L. Woody; and her sisters, Doris Woody Tichenor and Carol Woody Hammonds Petty preceded her in death.Elaine and her husband, Jim, lived in various Latin American countries with the Argentinian state of Formosa holding a special place in their hearts. They retired to the Indianapolis area to be close to their grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Andy) Jenkins of Zionsville, Ind.; and her son, Scott (Tim) Stancell-Condron of Boston, Mass. In addition she is survived by her mother, Helen Woody, of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Larry Woody, of Kingston, and Mike Woody, of Dandridge; three sisters, Diane Woody, of Chattanooga, Janet Carmack, of Kingston and Debra Dagnin, of Cape Town, South Africa. Also, surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Parks (Brittany) Harding and his daughter, Hynleigh, of Chattanooga, Brennen, Alexandra, Logan and Chloe Jenkins, all of Zionsville, Ind. ; former son-in-law, David Harding, of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.The family would like to express their gratitiude to St. Vincent Hospital Oncology and Hospice nurses for their exceptional care and compassion.In-lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Shelter or Rescue Society in your area.The family will conduct private funeral services with internment at the convenience of the family.Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, Zionsville, Ind., is in charge of the arrangements (www.arnmortuary.com).
