Mary Allmond

STATESBORO Mary Jones Allmond, 91, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.She was a native and longtime resident of Bulloch County and was a member of Clito Baptist Church. Mrs. Allmond had a lifelong career in childcare and many return to tell her of influence on their lives. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers, and cooking. Mrs. Allmond was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Edward Allmond; and two sons, James Edward Allmond and Harvey Allmond.Survivors include her children, Jeanette (George) Gunter, of Pensacola, Fla., Mickey E. (Glenda Faye) Allmond, of Chattanooga, Mark Allmond, of Statesboro, and Dwight Allmond, of Statesboro; one sister, Minnie Lee, of Statesboro; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore with Rev. Dan Zellner officiating.Active pallbearers will be Barry Gunter, Evan Lee, Dennis Lee, Casey Lee, Charles Jones and Lavon Jones.Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary Allmond Fund at Farmers & Merchants Bank at 201 North Main St., Statesboro, GA 30458 to the attention of Kasey Hagan.
