Ernestine Simpson

Ernestine M. Simpson, 86, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Spring City Care Center. A lifelong resident of Spring City, Ernestines grandparents were founding settlers of Rhea Springs and Spring City. She was the daughter of the late Milford and Alba Childes Simpson and a graduate of Spring City High School. Ernestine worked for TVA as a secretary for 33 years before retiring. She had been a member of the TVA Retirees Association and Spring City Business and Professional Women's Club. Ernestine was also very active in the Democratic Party. She has been a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church since the 1930s. Ernestine was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Lester McClure; and nephew, Larry McClure. Survivors include her twin sister, Maxine McClure and nieces, Carole (Boyd) Wright and Sharon Brown, all of Spring City and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Wyick officiating. There will be no visitation.
