Marion Castle

Marion Harrison Castle passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the grand age of 87. He was surrounded by family at Creekside Assisted Living, Murfreesboro, Tenn., where he and his wife have lived for the last 16 months. While at Creekside, he enjoyed all the available festivities and everyone loved him dearly. He was their "Cupcake" and he had a special "Sugarplum". Marion was born in Bridgeport, on June 13, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Wheeler Castle and Mary Fannie Cox Castle; his brothers, Joe Cephus Castle and wife Jesse Mae; and James (Martha) Castle; sisters, Velma Castle Solomon and husband Tom; and Flossie Castle; sister-in-law, Rilla Castle, and brother-in-law, Joe Massey. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Emma Dean Morris Castle; daughter, Myron Thompson (James) Harmon, of Chattanooga; son, Marion Wade (Jenise) Castle, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kimberly Thompson Ellis (Rich), of Arlington, Va., Lauren Castle Tygard (Chandler), of Joplin, Mo., Luke and Landon Castle, of Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren, Mason and Abigail Ellis; sister, Ruby Castle Massey, of Bridgeport; and brother, Carl Castle, of Augusta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Charles Morris, of Bridgeport; and beloved extended family members. Marion served in the Navy during WWII and retired from TVA after 35 years. He was a member of Bridgeport First Baptist, serving as treasurer for 40 years. He was a devoted, caring husband to his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and everyone who knew him. He was the best husband, father, and role model anyone could have. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST today, Feb. 25, 2014, at Rudders Funeral Home, Bridgeport, with Brother Don Elledge officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. CST before the funeral on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rocky Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Wayne Castle, Leon Castle, Billy Massey (honorary), Walker Morris, Donald Blansett, Matt Blansett, Tommy Rector, Chris Castle and Rob Crabtree.
