Reva Blair

Reva Sivley Blair, 100, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday April 1, 2019. Reva was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on May 6, 1918. She was a graduate of Central High School, class of ‘36, where she fell in love with her husband of 71 years, Major Eugene F Blair Sr., Retired. They were married in Chattanooga, Tenn., prior to moving to Washington State in service of the United States Army. Reva was very active in the Officer’s Wives Club in many U.S. states as well as in Italy and Germany. After 21 years of traveling the world, compliments of the military, they retired back to Chattanooga in 1966. Reva and Gene continued their love of travel, and as a member of Tyner United Methodist, she served as the travel coordinator of the “TOTS” group for 30+ years, telling jokes at the front of the bus. She loved to bowl, play golf, craft ornaments, can green beans, and spend time with her nieces and nephews, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Reva has spent the past 8 years living at the Hickory Valley Retirement Center, where she has been very active in exercise and activities. Her family would be remiss if we did not mention her weekly visits to Steak ‘N Shake and the kindness of the servers, one of whom brought her favorite milkshake to her while in Hospice care. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hickory Valley, Hospice of Chattanooga, Comprehensive Care and the staff at Memorial Northpark for their loving care. Reva was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Franklin Blair; as well as her parents, John and Mary Sivley; and siblings, Curtis, Grover, Clifford, Mae (Mathis), Mildred (Lamb), and Josephine (Sherrill). Reva is survived by her daughter, Janice Watson, Marietta; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Vicki, Hixson; grandchildren, Shelly (Judson) Hill, Rhonda (Chris) Sumsky, Melody (Jon) Richard, Brian (Jennifer) Watson, Lisa (Philip) Bennett and Carolyn (Tony) Padalino; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with service following at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, with Rev. Charlie Harrison officiating at Tyner United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
