Thomas Elder
Thomas Woodrow Elder age 100 of Dayton passed away Friday evening,
April 12, 2019 at Rhea Medical Center. He was born in Choctaw, OK on
February 4, 1919 the son of the late James Thomas Elder and Tennie
(Denton) Elder.
Tom had been a resident of Dayton since 1962. He was a graduate of
Bledsoe County High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree
in agricultural engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
He served his country with the US Army during WWII in the South
Pacific and retired with the rank of Major from the US Army Reserve.
Tom retired from TVA as a land appraiser. He was a member of the
Dayton Church of Christ and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Croshia (Davis) Elder of Dayton.
Funeral services for Tom will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm in the
funeral home chapel with his pastor, Minister Steve Brown officiating.
He will be laid to rest in Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Crossville
Tuesday at 12 Noon EST.
