Linda Hicks

Linda Norris Hicks, who served 53 years alongside her husband, the late Rev. Herschell Hicks, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Born March 13, 1942, Linda was a 1960 graduate of Central High School, Chattanooga, TN. Linda and Herschell were life partners and were called by God as a team. She was a vital and integral part of their ministry. Linda would help Herschell prepare his messages, listening with an attentive ear, and if she saw something that wasn’t right or heard something that she felt wasn’t as strong as it could be, she was a voice to strengthen this or eliminate that. She typed his messages each week on a typewriter :”back in the day” and then on the computer. Linda was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul and Mildred Norris. What she witnessed in her home as a child she practiced for herself – trust and dependence on God in every circumstance, love for His Word and concern for others. Laughter was a common characteristic throughout her life. She was a well-known Ladies Conference speaker and vocalist traveling extensively over the last 30 years. She authored several books and cookbooks as she was known for her cooking and especially her potato salad and fried chicken. She was a longtime member of Nellie Head Memorial Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill, Georgia. Linda was preceded in death in 2015 by her husband, Rev. Herschell Hicks and in 1998 by her brother, Donald Norris.
