Ken Peters

Kenneth Ira Peters, 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at home after a lengthy bout with cancer. Ken, an army veteran, was a volunteer fireman and engine driver for Catoosa County while working for Combustion Engineering. After retiring, he proudly owned Ken Peter’s Mowing Service for many years. He enjoyed 45 wonderful years of marriage to his loving wife Linda. He was an active member of the Dixie Relic Recovery Club and the Catoosa County Historical Society. Ken taught Georgia Hunter’s Safety courses. He enjoyed metal detecting, woodworking and genealogy. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Erastus Peters; mother, Florence Green Peters and son, Denny Kenneth Peters. He is survived by his wife, Linda Peters; daughters, Julie Peters and Shannon Amell; granddaughters, Abigail Dougherty, Shelby Peters and Danyell Amell; grandsons, Cameron Peters, Aidan Holcomb and Zack Amell; great granddaughter, Paisley Marino; brothers, Howard Peters, Gary Peters, Marion “Pete” Peters; sister, Brenda Kapherr; many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Heritage Funeral Home in Ft. Oglethorpe from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Kapherr officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery.
