Ray Ball

Harlan Ray Ball, 93, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away March 17, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy. Ray served in the U.S. Navy and was a long time employee of Dupont. Ray took an early retirement to pursue his love of cattle farming. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be truly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Ball and siblings, Carl, Vernon and Mildred. Ray is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty; their children, Belinda Holt, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Daniel (Susan) Ball, of Dallas, TX, David (Pat) Ball, of Geraldine, Ala., and Rebecca (Mitch) Underwood, of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Paul Ball of Hixson, Tenn. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019, with services following at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Bishop Calvin Nunley officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. His family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Family Church, P.O. Box 1149, Soddy Daisy, TN 37384 for any special project the church is involved with.
