Carol Harned

ROSSVILLE — Carol Harned, 72, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, in her home. Carol was born in Chattanooga and was raised in East Ridge, but lived most of her life in the Rossville area. She graduated from East Ridge High School in 1965 and earned her associates degree in American Sign Language from Chattanooga State. Carol was an independent bookkeeper, worked for Orange Grove as Home Support Staff, and worked as a paraprofessional for the Walker County School System. She loved to grow plants and flowers, feed the birds and squirrels, helping the underprivileged, handicapped, and deaf children with their education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Harned; mother, Elverta K. Wallace; father, James C. Wallace; and sister, Clarice M. Crabtree. Survivors include her son, Sean (Thera) Thomason; daughter, Nicole Watts; and grandchildren: Chelsea Thomason, Gracie Thomason, Elena Ventura, Erika Ventura, and Hali Gray; Brother, James (Pat) Wallace. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Hospital at stjude.org or the Shriners Hospital for children at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
