Bill Horton

RINGGOLD — William Andrew Horton, 89, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 15, 2019. He was born Nov. 3, 1930, to the late John and Gracie Mae Horton. He worked as a draw twist/control room operator along with other positions at DuPont where he retired. His co-workers all knew him as “Little Bill”. He was a former member of Hamill Rd. Baptist Church, New Salem Baptist Church and was an active member of Boynton Baptist Church. Bill was a very active man who loved camping, boating, fishing, water-skiing, playing horseshoes, ping pong, cards and bowling. He coached his daughter in softball, taught numerous people how to water-ski and bowl. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his loving grandchildren who knew him as “A-Bill”. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Horton; brothers, Earl, Leroy and J.W. Horton; sister, Betty Sparks. Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Juanita Horton; daughter, Teresa Brannon; sister, Carol Ann Pike; brother, Alvin (Kathy) Horton; step-sons, David (Denise) Grant and James Grant; step-daughter, Terri (Mike) Varnell; "other" daughter, Phyllis Mann; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Monday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, TN. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Boynton Baptist Church, 4093 Boynton Dr., Ringgold, GA.
