Elizabeth Headden

Elizabeth Jewell Goodman Headden had her beginning 47 years ago. She ended her earthly life and entered Heaven’s Glory on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Rev. 22:13

She is survived by her beloved husband, Barry Headden; her parents, William and Billie Goodman; grandparents, Rev. Don and Doris Guinn; a sister-in-law, and brothers-in-law, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her precious father-in-law: James W. Headden; her grandparents, Jessie and Francis Goodman, Sr., grandfather, James R. Lynch, great-grandmother, Leavy Stanly; her treasured aunt, Linda Conley; her beloved uncle, Terry L. Goodman; and her precious fur-babies: Fudgesicle and Terra.

She had recently rescued her last fur-child, Rey.

Elizabeth was an aspiring writer having honed her talent for many years throughout her battle of pain. She cared deeply for her friends and family and had the unique ability to connect with people and love them. She understood the value of listening and shared that talent with everyone she met. Elizabeth cared what your name was and your feelings about your life. Every individual was important to her. The beach and the ocean were an oasis for her. The peace that filled her there was a solace to her. It was her happy place.

She was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church and in her later years had a deep love for Battlefield Baptist Church and the people there.

Elizabeth began her working life at the age of 13 as a gymnast instructor for children at the YMCA and continued to work during her teenage years with Wendy’s of Fort Oglethorpe. She discovered a lifetime of love of the computer as she worked for the former State Line Computers of East Ridge. She had a passion for teaching others and taught computer programs for the former A&A Business Machines of Chattanooga. She continued her employment journey at the law firm of Wilder and Wilder of Chattanooga and ended her working career with WRCB TV for a short time before a car accident forced her to begin a new life with a different focus.

She was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School of Chickamauga where she discovered her love of sports and became an avid fan. She consistently studied her world and the people that shared it with her. Her passion for music was as strong as her taste was varied. If you had asked her for the name of her favorite hymn, Elizabeth would quote the Doxology: “Praise God from whom all blessing flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise him above ye Heavenly Hosts. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” The Christmas hymn “Joy to the World” was not just a Christmas carol to her. It was an anthem to be sung year-round. When you next hear these songs being sung, breathe a prayer for those who loved her and for those whose lives she enriched.

Due to the Covid 19 virus, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
