Calvin York

FLINTSTONE — Calvin Bueford York, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. He was born in Stevenson, Ala., and had lived in the Jasper and Chattanooga areas before moving to North Georgia 30 years ago. He was a member of Calvary Church of God in Chattanooga and was previously employed with the Catoosa County School System. He had also worked at Yarntex Incorporated as well as Durkan Yarns for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old westerns and spending time with his family & friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Lanis York and mother, Georgia Austin Parker.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 35 years, Ida Romine York; sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon and (Jaclyn) York, Jack and (Darla) Abernathy, Skip and (Pamela) Voyles and Scooter and (Brandi) Hays; daughters and sons-in-law, Shawna and (Scott) Davis, Viki and (Tony) Ramey, Jami and (Jim) Carter, Traci and (Phil) Reich and Kandi and (Arthur) Gossar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl York, Wallace and (Brenda) York and Charles and (Janie) Austin; sisters and brother-in-law, Opal Jones, Edith and (Stevie) Jordan and Shirley Bradford; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Bro. Chris Gordy officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
