Charles Flippin

Charles Walter Flippin was born on April 11, 1930 in Chattanooga Tennessee to Angus B. Flippin and Nicey B. Johnson Flippin. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha W. Flippin; children, Charles, Jr., Lebrone Wade, Ray Anthony, Rashad, Bettina Flippin, and Regina F. Martin; sisters, Effie Mae Smith, Minnie L. Flippin, Lena P. Hicks, Esther Daniels; brothers, Eugene, Albert and Benjamin Flippin.

Charles attended public school until the age of 16 at which time he started full time employment with O. B. Andrews which later became Container Corporation of America. Charles remained employed with Container Corporation of America until he retired. He then became employed with Waldon Security and remained until he retired at the age of 85.

Charles knew the scriptures book and verse, and was an avid fan of the Apostle Paul. His favorite gospel song was “Amazing Grace.” He believed in family and wanted a strong, caring unit for his family. Charles played the acoustic guitar and was a very good singer. He was a man of wisdom and was happy to share his knowledge and experiences to benefit others. He was a man of mild temperament and enjoyed political banter with his daughter.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Joyce (Morris) Dawson, Delores (Larkin) Lloyd, Mylene (Ferris) Flippin, Pauline Evans, LaShanda Cummings, Agnes Brown and Nellie Jackson; son, Andre’ D. Flippin. A host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother and sister-in-law Fred and Florida Murray. Dear friends, Senora Strickland, Sheila Harris, Dean Buford and Maggiedell Stone.

The body will be open for viewing on Friday from 1:00pm to 6pm. Saturday from 9am.- 10:45 am. Saturday service at 12.pm at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East.
