Ruby Jackson

Ruby Odell Jackson, 100, passed away at home, November 20, 2020.

She was born in Readyville, TN on September 27, 1920, to Arthur Clifford and Minnie Jane Gum Hughes. Ruby lived most of her life in Rossville, GA, where she was employed at Rossville Mills, until the age of 80. Ruby was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ. She was a wonderful cook, who loved to feed people, she was best known for her “fried pies”. Ruby loved gardening, canning, and being outside. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ray Zumbro and Joseph Warren Jackson; her son, Jerry Ray Zumbro; brothers, Arthur Hughes and Ray Turner Hughes; sisters, Gracie Emmaline Hughes and Mary Jane McKee.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy (George) Newton and Helen Jackson, son, Donald “Bo” Jackson; grandchildren, Allison (Mid) Durham, Jason Newton, Kameron Jackson and Kim Riden; great-grandson, Joey Durham; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 11 am on Saturday, November 21, at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Jack James officiating.
