Viola Stultz

Viola Jane Thurman Stultz, 72, of Graysville, Tennessee, passed into the arms of her Savior Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in a Nashville hospital.

Mrs. Stultz was born in Evensville, Tennessee, and reared in Sale Creek. She was baptized as a Christian at age 14, and graduated from Sale Creek High School in 1966.

A longtime homemaker, she had also been a Rhea County bookkeeper and retired in 2015 from Bradley County Schools.

Mrs. Stultz was an active and vital member of First Baptist Church, Dayton, Tennessee, serving as Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and Wednesday night head cook.

She was a loving and dedicated grandmother who held “Granny Camp’’ for many summers and took grandkids on road trips.

“We grieve the loss of a beloved Granny and mom who reflected the love, compassion and mercy of Jesus to all who knew her. We are sad but comforting one another with the assurance of the truth that she is fully healed in the presence of her Savior.’’

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Allen Thurman and Erma Tennessee Thomas Thurman; and brothers, Tommy Thurman and Odell Thurman.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Neal Stultz of Graysville; son, Andy (Kelly) Stultz of Chattanooga, and Amy (Lance) Myhan of Ooltewah; grandchildren, David and Patrick Stultz and Lillie, Ava and Luke Myhan, all of the Chattanooga area; brothers, John (Joyce) Thurman of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Hoyal Thurman, Sale Creek; sisters, Anna Ruth Aslinger, Sale Creek, Aileen (Melvin) Wilkey, Dayton, Virginia Ferguson, Dayton, and June (Jimmy) Poole, of Evensville; 17 nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Saturday at noon in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, with Rev. Milton Knox officiating. Burial will follow at Rhea Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Arrangements are by Vanderwall Funeral Home, Dayton.
