Billie Ransom

ROSSVILLE - Billie B. Ransom, 93, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Rossville and 1945 graduate of Rossville High School and was actively involved with the Rossville Bulldogs and the Rossville Alumni Association. Billie worked for Interstate Life Insurance for 42 years. She was an avid bowler, and also involved in soft ball for many years. She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she was a choir member. Billie treasured her time volunteering at CHI Memorial Hospital for many years, loved working puzzles, watching the Atlanta Braves and cherished spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was very much a people person, was very generous, competitive, and dedicated to her family and to the many she loved.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Leon “Doc” Ransom Sr.; parents, Clarence and Dicie Bolt; granddaughter, Jennifer Ransom Dean; brothers, Leroy Bolt and Ray Bolt.

Survivors are daughters, Brenda O’Kelley and Patsy Herring; son, Jim “JR” (Eileen) Ransom; sister, Bea Anderson; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Reverend David Harr and Reverend John Oldham. Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 25, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.
