Jean Miller

Jean (Buchanan) Miller, 93, longtime resident of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Henry and Agnes (Brown) Buchanan. She was a longtime member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. When St. Andrews completed its ministry, she moved her membership to Brainerd United Methodist Church. She was a 27-year volunteer at the VA Outpatient Clinic. She immigrated to the United States after World War II as her parents encouraged her to immigrate following the devastation of World War II in Great Britain and became a naturalized United States citizen. She met her future husband on the steam ship, Queen Mary, making the Atlantic Ocean crossing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Miller, Jr.; parents; her only sibling, Margaret Thompson of Stamford, Connecticut.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Carolyn) Miller of Signal Mountain; grandchildren Kevin (Carey) Miller, Ryan (Heather) Miller, and Lauren Miller. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Hudson Miller, niece, Kathleen Spellman Aurichio of Stamford, Connecticut and nephew, Francis S. Millard, Jr. She loved her family deeply.

Private graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery with the Rev Tim B. Bracken, Senior Pastor, Brainerd Church officiating.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the Healthcare and Memory Care Staffs of Alexian Village of Signal Mountain for their love and care.
