Philip Pennington

Philip Michael Pennington, 75, of Ooltewah, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, following a sudden illness while on a trip to Alaska.

Mr. Pennington was born in Waynesville, North Carolina and raised in Powell, Tennessee where he graduated from Powell High School. He graduated from Georgia Tech University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Phil and his wife, Elaine, lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 14 years before moving to Chattanooga. He was employed as an Electrical Engineering Consultant with Campbell & Associates. He was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church, the Baptist Peace Fellowship, and the Chattanooga Chess Club. Phil volunteered teaching chess at Big Ridge and Westview Elementary Schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmas and Katherine Pennington; brother, Bob Pennington; and grand nephew, Zach Branam.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Elaine Pennington; daughters, Amy (Sam) Francis and Molly (Chris) Epperson; granddaughters, Lainey and Maya Epperson; sisters, Teresa Rector, Lillian (Roger) Tucker, and Carol Williams; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

The family will receive friends at Ooltewah Baptist Church from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, and 1 to 2 PM on Saturday. 5514 Main Street, Ooltewah, TN 37363.

Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Saturday, July 2nd at Ooltewah Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Colloms and Pastor Michael Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Families First Fund at Ooltewah Baptist Church.
