Betty Thompson

Betty Duchesne Thompson passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. She was born Nov. 30, 1932 to Charles Chesnier and Carrie Cowan Duchesne in Richland Parish, La. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, Monroe, La.Betty and her husband, Charles, moved to Tennessee in 1954 and continued to make Chattanooga their home. She worked in the banking industry and easily made friends with everyone she met. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was happiest in doing things for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and ten brothers and sisters.She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Clinton Thompson, Jr. ; daughters Jan Thompson and Lisa (Jim) Stanley; son Clint Thompson; grandson Bill Weske; granddaughter Morgan Weske both of Chattanooga; sister Mackie Fitch, Monroe, Louisiana; sister-in-law Hazel Duchesne, West Monroe, La.; brother-in-law George Evanoff, Shreveport, Louisiana, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. James and Mary Thompson, Milton, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon-3 p.m. Saturday.Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37403, or the Humane Society of Chattanooga 212 N.
