Doyle Smith

Doyle Marion Smith, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. Doyle served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a POW for over two years, before being released. He enjoyed working in the yard and going sightseeing as often as he could. Doyle was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lucille Smith; and great-grandchild, Tyler Matthew Thomas. Doyle is survived by his son, Tommy Smith; daughter, Betty McMahan; grandchildren, Cindy Thomas and Tammy Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Chattanooga National Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Byers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m on Wednesday. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
