John Wolfe Jr. John McConnell Wolfe, Jr., beloved brother and cherished uncle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 4, 2023. He was 69. He was born in Nashville, TN on April 21, 1954. At the age of six, he moved to Chattanooga where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1972 and then from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in Memphis. After graduating, he established a private practice as a trial attorney. Throughout his 40+ years legal career, he passionately advocated for the rights of his clients. John had a great love for his family. He was a kind and caring brother, always there when needed. He loved to discuss current events, history and politics with his nieces and nephews and challenge them to always ask questions and think for themselves. John had a quick wit and keen intellect. His love and knowledge of politics and history were exceptional; but, above all, he should be remembered for his compassionate heart and generosity. He was always helping others, either with legal advice, monetary help or by just listening to them. He felt other people’s pain intensely and did what he could to help. He will be deeply missed by his friends, colleagues and all whose lives he touched through his wise, empathetic counsel and dedication to justice. John was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) McConnell and Regina (Power) Wolfe and his brother Daniel Power Wolfe and his brother-in-law, Gary Thomas Noonan. He is survived by his five sisters Regina (David) Jabaley, Mary Agnes Noonan, Ann (Richard) Powell, Elaine Wolfe and Elizabeth Wolfe, eight nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. followed by a rosary at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153 in Hixson, TN. There will also be a visitation one hour before the funeral at the church. A Celebration of Life funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN with Father Charles Burton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Notre Dame High School Tuition Assistance Program, 2701 Vermont Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404 or to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 501 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
