PONTE VEDRA, FL — Patricia Nichols McFarland of Ponte Vedra, Florida, passed away on January 8, 2024, after a courageous two and a half year battle with multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukemia.
She was born on February 28, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Floyd Nichols Jr., and is survived by her son, Sean Christopher Joyner, her mother Betty Jo Nichols, and her identical twin sister Pamela (Daryll) Nichols Wilson, and niece and nephew Erin Wilson and Geoffrey Wilson. She also has a granddaughter, Victoria Joyner Chance, and three great grandsons, Benjamin, Silas, and Everett Chance.
She graduated from Red Bank High School in 1968, and from the University of Tennessee in 1972 (BS) in Retail and Merchandise Management. She also attained a BS in Nursing from the Medical School of the University of Tennessee Memphis in 1974.
She faithfully served her country as a member of the Tennessee National Guard and US Army Reserves for 22 years. She served seven years of active duty with the CBWTU-AL. She retired from the Army with the rank of Lt. Colonel and proudly graduated first in her Command and General Staff College class. This is an arduous course conferring a Masters degree.
Services will be held on April 26, 2024, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to gather at the main cemetery building to be escorted to the pavilion for the service.
