Chattanooga robbery victim shot in mouth

Two men were robbed and one was shot in the mouth Friday night on East 14th Street, according to a Chattanooga police news release.

The two men, Marcus Ramos Alonzo and José Lagos, told police they were driving when they noticed they were being followed by a white vehicle with several people inside.

When they stopped at 2213 E. 14th St., a black male got out of the following vehicle and came up to them with a handgun, demanding money, according to the news release from Lt. Kim Noorbergen.

Mr. Alonzo said he was shot after he gave the robber his money. The robber took Mr. Lagos' money as well, and the white vehicle was driven away, police said.

Mr. Alonzo's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Lt. Noorbergen said.
