Tonya Craft files $25 million lawsuit

Attorneys for a former Chickamauga Elementary School teacher acquitted on child molestation charges today filed a $25 million lawsuit against her accusers in U.S. District Court in Northern Georgia.

In a 52-page complaint filed at the courthouse in Rome, Ga., Tonya Craft alleges, among other things, that the prosecution against her was malicious and violated her civil rights.

Defendants include the parents of the three girls that alleged child molestation: her former husband, Joal Henke, Sandra Lamb and Kelli McDonald. The Catoosa County Sheriff's office, including Detective Tim Deal, the lead investigator in Ms. Craft's case, and Sheriff Phil Summers are also listed in the suit.

Ms. Craft was acquitted May 11 on 22 counts of child molestation, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery in Catoosa County Superior Court.
