Another person is dead after a shooting near a DeKalb County, Ala., church. It's the second time someone has been killed of a gunshot near a church in the county in the same week.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says the incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday near Shiloh Community Church on County Road 155 in Higdon.

Last week another man was found dead of a gunshot wound behind the Ider Church of Christ.

Saturday's shooting left a Walker County, Ga., man dead, a Jackson County, Ala., man with bullet wounds and a Higdon man behind bars.

When deputies, Fort Payne and Ider police, DeKalb County Drug Task Force and Jackson County deputies arrived on the scene they found Cody Lee Wade, 40 of Higdon with a gun and were told by Wade's mother that the incident started Saturday night when Wade and a woman friend got into a domestic dispute, Harris said.

The female friend called two other men, identified as Barry White and William Gilreath, to give her a ride.

When White and Gilreath arrived, Wade attempted to get into the vehicle, too, Harris states. When Wade couldn't get in, White drove off and Wade began firing shots at the vehicle, striking White and Gilreath. Their vehicle off into a ditch near the church.

White, 45 of Walker County, Ga., died on the scene and Jackson County resident Gilreath was transported to an unnamed medical facility where his condition is unknown, according to Harris.

Meanwhile, Wade was arrested and transported to DeKalb County Detention Center where he was charged with murder, jail records show.

"Thanks to the Ider police, Fort Payne police, Jackson County deputies, DeKalb County Drug Task Force and our deputies for their quick response in this case," Harris said. "This is an unfortunate situation and our thoughts and prayers go out to these families."
