Plans for the new East Hamilton Middle School will be unveiled next week.

Superintendent Bryan Johnson, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger and representatives from TWH Architects, the firm selected to design the project, will present an overview as well as plans for the new middle school at a community meeting on Tuesday, July 10.

The new school, which will be part of the new Missionary Ridge Learning Community, is part of the $125 million capital plan approved by the Hamilton County Board of Education last fall after the County Commission approved $100 million in bond funds to address school facility needs.

In February, the county voted to approve $110 million in bonds as well as architects for seven projects including Harrison Elementary, East Hamilton Middle, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, Howard High, Snow Hill Elementary and Tyner Middle and High schools.

The location of the new middle school will be near Apison Elementary School.

Community members will be able to view the plans, talk with architects and district leaders and engage in a question and answer session Tuesday night. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at East Hamilton School, 2015 Ooltewah Ringgold Road.
