A Hay State Prison correctional officer pleaded guilty today to an accusation that she sneaked methamphetamine and marijuana into the building, stuffing the drugs in her bra and vagina.
Tiffany Cook, 34, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Judge Harold Murphy will sentence her Dec. 21 at 2 p.m.
She is the second correctional officer this month charged with sneaking drugs into Hays State in Trion, Georgia. A federal grand jury indicted Mark Edward Jeffery with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine at the prison on Oct. 2. His case is still pending in U.S. District Court.
According to a news release today, Cook has worked at Hays State since April 2017. She was a corrections officer elsewhere in the state prison system for seven years before coming to Trion.
In July, according to the release, an inmate told other correctional officers that Cook was going to smuggle in drugs. Allegedly, another inmate paid Cook.
On July 9, the other officers searched her when she showed up for work. They say they found about four ounces of methamphetamine and about five ounces of marijuana.
