An inmate at the Bradley County Jail has died at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee, after an alleged suicide attempt on Wednesday evening, according to a news release from the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

Charlie Franklin Stevenson had been booked on several drug-related charges on Sept. 8, and had received a $200,000 bond from the court the morning of the suicide attempt.

Officers found Stevenson 40 minutes after an hourly cell check, called 911 and administered first aid and CPR until paramedics arrived six minutes after being notified of the emergency, the release states.

Stevenson was breathing and had a pulse when he arrived at Tennova Hospital.

"According to the Medical Examiner, the aforementioned inmate has succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries and officially been pronounced deceased," the Bradley County Sheriff's Office announced in a news release Thursday night.
