Carey Anderson, the deputy county clerk in Dade County, Georgia, has been sharing news of Bradford's health on the county's Facebook page. A Facebook group called "Prayers for Allan Bradford," operated by his family members, wrote that Bradford had been admitted to the intensive care unit at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.
The group was started on Feb. 18 and announced the commissioner had tested positive for COVID-19.
Bradford's wife Kathy had tested negative but had been showing symptoms, according to the family.
Bradford started to improve slightly over the weekend but has been back and forth in terms of health status.
On Monday, the family wrote Bradford's daughter was able to see him and that he was in stable condition.
The number of COVID-19 cases has been lower in Dade County since a significant spike in early January. The county is averaging about 3 new cases a day on a seven-day average. The positivity rate in the county also remains lower.
Bradford's battle with COVID-19 comes just a month after Commission Chairman Ted Rumley and his wife, Diane, tested positive. Both were able to recover at home after mild symptoms.
In November, Whitfield County Commissioner Roger Crossen died after being hospitalized with COVID-19.
