Former Chattanoogan Mitch Rossell will have a national stage for his music Tuesday night, appearing among contestants in the 18th season of "America's Got Talent" on NBC.
In a Facebook post, the singer/songwriter urged fans to tune in "to see what song I did and see what Simon Cowell Heidi Klum Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel think of it. Let's goooooo!!!!"
Rossell, who attended Silverdale Baptist Academy and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has no shortage of songs to perform for the judges, including hits for country music royalty.
He wrote "Ask Me How I Know," a 2017 hit for Garth Brooks, which became the returning superstar's first No. 1 in a decade. He has written three other songs for Brooks — "That's What Cowboys Do," "All Day Long" and "Dive Bar" — and opened 13 shows on Brooks' stadium tour in 2022.
In 2021, Rossell released "Ran Into You," featuring harmony vocals by Trisha Yearwood. That and his other releases have totaled nearly 21 million streams on Spotify.
His latest single is "Can't Wait," which he wrote about ending date nights early so he and his wife could enjoy alone time at home, he said on Instagram.
In December he released "Son," about his relationship with his father, who was killed by a drunken driver in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, when Rossell was 10. On Instagram, Rossell said he was pleased with the song but also terrified because it tells such a personal story.
"It's a journey through my childhood with my dad, a painful picture of how I lost him, and the healing I found having my first son," he wrote.

"America's Got Talent" airs at 8 p.m. The show features rounds of taped auditions and live shows, leading up to the finale in September. To move forward and avoid elimination, acts must earn at least three yes votes from the four judges or a golden buzzer from one of the judges or host Terry Crews.
