Events celebrating corgis, catfish and cocktails are on the weekend agenda around the Chattanooga area. Here's a chronology.


ARTS

— Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, will host a Vision + Verse program 6-7 p.m. Thursday that features the Divine Poetess, with live music and dance performances inspired by works by African American artists in the contemporary galleries. huntermuseum.org

— ClearStory Arts, 1673 S. Holtzclaw Ave., will host a Music + Poetry + Art live show featuring Margot & The Toothless Hags, the River City Street Poet and Lynne Weldon at 6 p.m. Friday. — Houston Museum of Decorative Arts, 201 High St., will host a talk by artist-in-residence Kris Bespalec on how her exhibit, "Acts of Preservation," relates to museum founder Anna Safley Houston's collection at 6 p.m. Friday. — In-Town Gallery, 26A Frazier Ave., will host a reception and demonstration, Roger Harvey's Wizardry With Wood, noon-3 p.m. Saturday. — Stove Works, 1250 E. 13th St., has two programs this week. William Isom II will speak about the nonprofit organization Black in Appalachia at 6 p.m. Thursday as part of the Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Saturday features the summer fundraiser Life's a Drag. Set for 6-10 p.m., it will feature DJ Christo, comedy by Bridgette Martin, a photo booth, an amateur drag show, makeup artists (additional cost) and partner-organized activities by Spectrum, Seed Theater/Black Rainbow Movement, Chattanooga Pride and Soft Animal. — Juba Dance Ensemble will offer its inaugural performance, examining the history of dance created by Black artists, at 7 p.m. Friday at Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. A panel discussion with the dancers will follow. MUSIC

— Barking Legs Theater, 1307 Dodds Ave., will present the Ben Friberg Trio in its weekly installment of Jazz in the Lounge at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Cover is $5. Sunday marks the return of Italian acoustic guitarist Beppe Gambetta, whose sound merges American and European roots music. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. with a $20 ticket. barkinglegs.org

— Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival opens Thursday at The Farm, 1560 New Bushy Branch Road, Manchester, Tenn. More than 100 acts will perform over the four days, and rapper Kendrick Lamar, electronica duo Odesza and rock band Foo Fighters will headline the final three nights. — Black Dads Matter Father's Day Gospel/Jazz Brunch, part of the Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas, starts at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Waterhouse Pavilion at Miller Plaza, 850 Market St. At 2 p.m., actors from the Chattanooga Theatre Centre's winter production of "The Color Purple" will perform songs from the musical. — Walk the Walk Food & Fitness Club, which is open to all ages and fitness levels, will go on a low-intensity hike on the Guild Trail 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday from the Ruby Falls parking lot, 1720 Scenic Highway. — Tennessee Wine Train will make another run at 6 p.m. Thursday from the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, 4119 Cromwell Road. The two-hour excursion features a three-course dinner with wine pairings chosen by a master sommelier.
