Man suffers burns in vehicle fire in Signal Mountain


An elderly man was found to have suffered first- and second-degree burns after authorities located a truck on fire in the Signal Mountain area.

According to a news release from the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, around 2 p.m. Sunday, several 911 calls reported loud explosions from the 6800 block of Sawyer Road.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they extinguished a truck that was on fire near a barn. Authorities requested mutual aid at the location of the fire and transported an older man to a local hospital to be treated for burns.

An investigation conducted by the Waldens Ridge Fire Department is ongoing.
