Domestic argument led to fatal Grundy County shooting after woman's father showed up

Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum issued a statement this morning giving more details about a fatal shooting that happened over the weekend in Coalmont, Tennessee.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Bradford Orion Meeks. The shooting happened at a home on Lockhart Town Road either late Saturday night or early Sunday.

"While information is limited, investigators say that an argument had ensued earlier in the night between Meeks and his girlfriend Brandy Shrum," the sheriff said.

"Meeks left the residence but returned a short time later and another argument ensued. At some point during this argument, Shrum's father, George 'Junior' Byers, arrived at the house. An altercation between Byers and Meeks took place leaving Meeks dead," Shrum said.

No arrest has been made as investigators continue to determine what happened. The TBI is assisting.
