A woman sought by Chattanooga police who say she was involved in a shooting incident that injured a police officer and one other person early Sunday turned herself in on Monday.

Brandi Burton, 26, was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment, according to a news release. She was taken to the Hamilton County Jail.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. Sunday at a Waffle House at 2024 East 23rd St. Officers responding to a call of an officer who had been shot found two victims: the 30-year-old officer and a 32-year-old man, according to a news release. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation at the scene, investigators learned that earlier that night, the officer had seen an argument outside in the parking lot. When he went outside to break it up, the officer saw a woman holding a gun. He attempted to disarm her and the gun went off, striking him and another man.

The officer has been released from the hospital and the other victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident to call 423-698-2525. Callers can remain anonymous.
