Police in Athens, Tennessee, have arrested one suspect while another is still on the run in a double shooting at an apartment complex on Walker Street early Tuesday that left a woman dead and a man injured.

The woman killed was identified as Layla Long, according to a statement issued by the department Thursday.

Johnathan Clayton and Joseph Kibodeaux are the subjects of warrants issued in the incident. Clayton was taken into custody by the Athens Police Department's SWAT team in Sweetwater, Tennessee, but Kibodeaux remains at large, police said.

Kibodeaux may be armed and dangerous.

Clayton was arrested with help from Sweetwater police and the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force, police in Athens said. He faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and is being held on $500,000 bond, according to jail records.

The investigation is continuing as police seek Kibodeaux.

Athens police about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday found Tremon Hall and Long inside an apartment at Clem Jones Housing Complex with gunshot wounds, according to a news release. The survivor of the shooting, Hall, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

"I'm proud of the hard work by all the first responders involved in this," Athens police Chief Cliff Couch said in the statement. "Detectives Blake Witt, Nick Purkey and Freddy Schultz and numerous other officers have spent countless hours trying to get justice for the victims in this case and take these dangerous individuals off the street."

Officers will continue working on the case.

Clayton and Kibodeaux were allegedly seen early Tuesday in a newer, dark-colored Dodge pickup truck, police said. There were no additional details available on the vehicle.

Anyone with information on Kibodeaux's whereabouts is urged to contact the Athens Police Department at 423-745-3222 or to call 911.
