A third accident was reportedly caused by ice on the roadway Friday morning, and a fourth accident occurred as a result of debris from the third, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

No injuries were reported in either accident, a news release states.

The first single-vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road and Sylar Road at around 9 a.m., the news release states.

According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling south on Ooltewah-Georgetown Road crossing the bridge over Interstate 75 when it hit ice on the roadway and began sliding.

The vehicle slid across the center line and struck the concrete bridge railing before coming to rest.

When the vehicle struck the rail, the impact caused the rail to break, causing a large piece of concrete to fall onto the interstate below and hit the right front tire of a vehicle traveling north on I-75.

Tennessee Department of Transportation and Hamilton County Highway Department responded to the scene to clear the roadways and secure the damage to the bridge.

Two more accidents took place earlier Friday morning about 7:30 a.m.

A driver traveling south on Dallas Hollow Road near Short Leaf Lane hit a patch of ice and lost control of her vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The second accident occurred when another vehicle hit the same patch of ice, leaving a truck on its top. That driver was uninjured.
